When replacing the iconic Yahoo billboard, Segment wanted to create a unique board that has a day/night appeal. LED lightboxes were constructed to cover the face of the billboard structure that was 29β tall x 61β long. A translucent day/night alternate read vinyl was stretched over a frame in front of the light boxes that revealed a different background image at night when the lights were turned on. Three dimensional Segment letters and scenic flat cutouts were attached in front of the vinyl background to provide additional dimension. The Segment letters were LED lightboxes with a drop shadow that had RGB backlighting to allow for a color change. The text cabinet with internet accessible controller allows the client to update the display in real time and stay current with itβs messaging to those going by on I-80.
