Megalodon Shark

The San Diego Natural History Museum came to us with the goal of installing a 34’ long replica of the largest and most powerful predator in vertebrate history, the Megalodon shark.

A model of the shark was designed by a paleontologist and 3D scanned. The 3 layers of teeth required hand carving of each tooth and a final casting. The shark was CNC machined from foam and fitted with steel to support it as it hangs 50’ in the air. This shark was well researched before it was painted to the highest level of authenticity.

Exact replicas are always a welcomed challenge at Atomic. We love exceeding our client’s expectations. Megalodon was fabricated and shipped in sections to San Diego and assembled onsite where Atomic assisted at the install.
